GCY Corps: Instilling a lifetime commitment to service
Getting young people inspired to play an active role in their communities is what Grand Canyon Youth Corps is all about!
Many students initially participate to earn service hours towards their GCY river trips and then find that they enjoy doing service and stay involved.
GCYC participants complete hundreds of hours of community service each year. Students who are part of our school-based clubs engage in the service learning process to plan, implement, reflect, and celebrate their projects.
Why join?
As a member of the GCYC, you’ll gain leadership skills and exposure to career possibilities, learn more about your community, try new things, and help others. It looks great on college applications and resumes.
How much time is involved?
You’ll need to attend bimonthly meetings and complete 10 hours of service each semester.
How do I join?
GCYC clubs are currently active at three schools: Flagstaff High School, Northland Preparatory Academy, and Sinagua High School. If you are student at one of these schools and want to participate, contact Doug Thompson.
